Today I decided to put together a small collection of teen boy’s basketball bedroom mood boards that all feature a mini basketball goal. Adding a basketball goal to a boy’s bedroom is a great way to include a fun exciting element. Who doesn’t love to blow off a little steam by shooting hoops? It’s especially nice because you don’t event need to leave the comfort of your room! Teen boys are growing into themselves, so adding a basketball goal gives them the opportunity to indulge in a little childish fun! It’s a great way to get a break from studying, or just kill some spare time.
While adding toys to a bedroom can be great, the concern is that toys aren’t always the most esthetically pleasing element to the design. Keeping that in mind, I wanted to put together some teen bedroom mood board designs that include mini basketball hoops that fit with the overall design of the space and home.
Here is a an assortment of teen boy’s bedroom mood board designs. They all feature a modern-transitional style and masculine decor. This collection of basketball mood boards will give you inspiration for a few different styles that all incorporate basketball as a focal point!

Clean and Fresh
This teen boy’s basketball bedroom mood board design features a clean esthetic and draws on a color palette pallet of black, white and brown. These colors give the room a timeless yet comfortable feel. The mixture of plaid patterns play into the masculinity of this space. Artwork showcases the modern-transitional style featured in the entire room. I love the stylization of the logos and the simple black and white colors.
The basketball hoop ties in with the artwork and the nightstand/dresser combo. The dark, plaid rug adds depth to the floor and pulls together the dark and the light tones while incorporating the browns and leathers. I love how the browns in this space are similar in tone to some basketballs. The leather stools at the end of the bend offer great functional seating and look great with the lamps. These are perfecting for easily moving around the room when friends come over.
Lastly, my two final favorite things about this space are the light and the bed. This light is my favorite feature because of the interesting shape it brings to the room. The three arms throw light nicely and give an intriguing glow. I wanted the bed to be a soft and inviting piece to the masculine space. The bed is supposed to be a relaxing area, so for this room I chose an upholstered bed with inviting pillows and bedding!

Color of the Ball
I love this design for a teen boys bedroom. This room was inspired by the leather color on a basketball. Incorporating leather with the black and gray helps to create this masculine space. One of my favorite features of this design is the wall-mounted basketball holder because it is a great way to display basketballs as art and to function as storage. Any avid basketball player will tell you that they want to have a basketball in their hand. Being able to reach out and grab one off the wall in the bedroom is a great! Depending on the size holding you get, they can fit official size balls or the miniature ones that will work with the bedroom mini basketball goal.
Another feature I love in this space is the desk area. A desk is a great way to give teens space to work on homework, projects or even just to help stay organized. Having a place to store computers, books, pens, and notebooks is a great way to add functional space to the design. The desk drawer offers storage and the basketball trashcan is a great way to make throwing things away a blast!
Don’t Forget the Seating
This teen boy’s basketball bedroom design also offers ample seating. I love the Big Joe Lounger! It is a great play to relax and play video games or just to take a load off! The gray big Joe chair also ties in with the color palette of the bedding. For the bed, I decided to go with a light wooden bed to balance out all the dark wood tones in the nightstands and desk. This lightens the room and blends with the gray tones found elsewhere in the space.
I also decided on the black and white basketball goal for this space because I feel like the black ties in the rug and the nightstand/desk combination. I love the way this mood board came out! It gives the elevate teen vibe while preserving the fun basketball sports theme!

All About Navy
For this teen boy’s basketball bedroom, I wanted to take this teen basketball bedroom mood board design in a totally different direction. I started with the navy blue to a colorful element that is still masculine. Navy blue can be one of the most beautiful colors, especially when paired with the natural wood tones! I think this creates an inviting and bright space perfect for a teen boy! The nice thing about this design is that it can easily be transitioned from a younger boys bedroom or tween bedroom into an elevated teen’s room.
When designing this room, I started with the bed. I love the Tilly upholstered bed from Wayfair! It comes in a variety of colors and textures. The sturdy construction makes it great for a teen boy because I know how rambunctious they can be! I added the comforter to this design because I loved the pairing of the navy and the light brown bedding. With crisp white sheets and some navy pillows, the bed is cozy and inviting!
Balance with Light Brown
I love including a desk for teen bedrooms because it creates a perfect space for homework and studying that is quite and their own. The desk I chose offers room for books and notebooks. I also added a light brown leather chair to tie in with the bedding and dresser.
One of my favorite parts of this design is the woven-drawer dresser. The small details on this dresser is what makes it! The woven texture on the drawer and the styled detail in the pulls makes this dresser a standout! Light wood is perfect for keeping the room light and airy feeling! I finished the top with a navy blue lamp and some basketball art to personalize the space.
Lastly, the best element in this room is the basketball goal. I love the light wood color paired with the dark rim and white lettering. This goal is customizable because you can add a name or simple design to the backboard. I love how the white letters tie in with the net on the goal and also with the sheets and walls. The crisp white bring a cleanliness that finishes off the space nicely.

Black and Brown
My last teen boy’s basketball bedroom design in this collection is all about the black and brown. These two colors are some of my favorite pairings. I love the contrast between the dark black and the pop of color you get from the light brown. These palette is very masculine and inviting.
One of my favorite pieces in this design is the dresser. The leather pulls combined with the black finish embodies the spirit of this design. The three drawers offer great storage for clothes and the top is perfect for artwork and table lamps to brighten the space.
For this space, I chose two brown table lamps that will bring warm light to the room. These lamps are not only functional, but they tie together the bedding, drawer pulls, and beanbag chair with the rest of the design.
I love the pattern found on the bedding. It’s monochromatic in color, yet the quilted pattern adds interest and depth to the design. This bedding comes with matching pillows that I have layered behind black striped pillows. I love the horizontal lines in this design from these pillows. It adds a masculine touch that isn’t overbearing.
Lastly, the basketball goal is the focal point of this room. I chose a simple black and white basketball goal with black rim and netting because I wanted to draw the attention to the dark boldness of the goal. This goal will stand out on a white wall and gives great contrast to the light browns throughout the space. My objective in this design was to balance the black and brown evenly, so I decided that the basketball goal itself needed to be black to bring everything into balance.
I hope you enjoyed these teen boy’s basketball bedrooms! I have a number of other teen boy’s basketball bedroom mood boards on LTK!
